Opinion paper: Applying agroecological principles allows assessing the multidimensionality of input-use efficiency in ruminant production systems
Résumé
•The output/input ratio of efficiency is not adapted to agroecological transitions.
•Agroecology principles lack a holistic assessment of interactions among input types.
•We suggest 5 agroecological criteria for efficiency multidimensionality assessment.
•They encompass production, environmental, economic and labour dimensions.
•Potential synergies and trade-offs among these 5 criteria need to be considered.
